Camp Volunteers:
We are currently seeking 13 volunteers for each of the all-day camps and 6 volunteers for each of the 1/2 day camps with volunteers able to volunteer all day or for 1/2 day slots.  No previous experience is required – just a desire to have fun and engage with and inspire children.  Everyone is welcome to apply including Technical professionals, educators, and others.  This includes college students.

Please note we typically fill up our volunteer positions so apply early to insure you have a spot.

Details on Volunteering & Roles:

All Day Camp Volunteers (13 volunteers total per day):

  • Activity Assistant (3 people per day):
Assist with Hands-On Activity with Iowa State Student or Putnam Staff Leader. This role will require approximately 30 minutes of preparation ahead of the session. Will remain with the same activity all day. (1 person per group)
  • Group Coordinator (9 people per day):
Assist with the hands-on activities with minimum preparation required ahead of the event. Coordinators will travel with the same students to each of the three activities. (3 people per group)
  • Event Photographer (1 person per day):  The volunteer needs to provide their own DSLR camera.  They will be responsible for getting a sample of pictures from the event including student check-in, with students seated at the movie (all day camps), student & volunteers during the hands-on activities and a group picture of the students and/or volunteers.  The highest priority for the pictures is quality rather than quantity with around 100 – 150 processed pictures each day ideal.  For the all day camps, photographers can volunteer for the part of the day or all day if they like with the minimum being 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

1/2 Day Camps with FIRST LEGO League Junior (6 volunteers per camp):

  • FIRST LEGO League Junior Helper (5 total per camp):
Will be assisting individual groups/teams and working closely with up to six campers to help facilitate them as they go through the FIRST LEGO League Junior (FLL Jr.) camp activities. They will not be leading anything nor will they need to have any extra training or content knowledge beyond the information that is shared in the right before camp.
  • Event Photographer (1 person per day):  The volunteer needs to provide their own DSLR camera.  They will be responsible for getting a sample of pictures from the event including student check-in, student & volunteers during the hands-on activities and a group picture of the students and/or volunteers.  The highest priority for the pictures is quality rather than quantity with around 50 – 75 processed pictures each camp ideal.  Photographers can volunteer for 1/2 day or full day segments for the FLL Junior Camps.

Special thanks to
