QCESC STEM Grants Supporting PK-12  Grade Students

The Quad City Engineering & Science Council (QCESC) is excited to announce that funding is available to support STEM education and learning supporting students age 4-18 (grades Pre-K through 12th grade) 

Eligibility Requirements to Apply:

School (public or private), 501(c)(3) non-profit or public library 

Supporting students ages 4-18 (grades PK-12) with STEM education in the QCESC region in one of the following locations:

  • Illinois Counties:
  • Carroll
  • Henry
  • Knox
  • Lee
  • Mercer
  • Rock Island
  • Whiteside

Iowa Counties:

  • Clinton
  • Louisa
  • Muscatine
  • Scott

Grant Request should be less than $2,500

Recipients of a grant will present their experience and results at a future QCESC meeting

Timeframes for Applying and Award Announcements:

  • Grant applications and funding is expected to be available twice per year. 
  • The schedule for grant applications and awards is:
    • Fall with October 31 deadline to apply with grants awarded by November 30
    • Spring with March 31 deadline to apply with grants awarded by April 30

Eligible Funding

  • STEM materials & kits
  • Training
  • Busing and transportation for participants
  • Food for participants

Non-Eligible Funding

  • Costs for overhead, salaries or administration
  • T-shirts or anything that is not supporting directly STEM Education

 Key Grant Selection Criteria:

  • Support for underserved (low income) students
  • Support for students and students underrepresented in STEM . This includes African Americans, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, and females
  • Financial need
  • Support increasing student interest and achievement in STEM

  • Spring 2024
    • $1,250 – Riverdale Robotics for FIRST Worlds costs
    • $1,300 – STEM-Tastic – 6 drone kits
    • $2,000 – Matching grant for QC Elite for a CNC Machine until 10/31/24
  • Fall 2023
    • $1,813 – Moline Franklin Elementary – 3D Printer and supplies
  • Spring 2023
    • $1,256 – Flourish & Bots – Equipment for FIRST participation
    • $850 – St Ambrose Engineering Summer Camp – One drone and one Lego Sumo Kit
    • $900 – Moline High School – Materials to jump start participation in QC Tech Challenge
    • $1,289 – STEM-Tastic Summer Camp – two 3D Printers
    • $1,899 – Bicentennial Elementary in Coal Valley – 3D printer for after school program
  • Fall 2022
    • $1,000 – Riverdale School – One Kit for teaching Robotics
    • $500 – Manufacturing STEM Camp at Dav West, providing lunch and materials for attendees.
    • $2,000 – Mississippi Bend AEA – Travel Expenses to bring Steven Smith from NASA
    • $2,500 – STEAM on Wheels – Laser Cutter
    • $2,500 – QC Elite – Practice field at Southpark mall location
